RACE RECAP

Hundreds of children and their parents participated today.
Thanks to our great volunteers, sponsors, contributors, and the mayors who walked to promote children's health.
Thanks to the River to River Runners Club and major sponsor Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH).

Apologies to the last group of young people who did not get to complete their 1600 meter run and the adult-child relay teams. Our priority was to insure your safety, and when the weather turned bad, it was my duty to stop the event.

Next year, we'll start with the adult-child relay race. So hold on to the relay batons you received today and practice.

Have a great summer and keep moving.

Photos coming soon . . . .

THE  MAYORS'  WALK

The afternoon will kick-off with "The Mayors' Walk." The mayor of every town in southern Illinois (or their designee) is invited to leisurely walk one lap on the track together. It is suggested they wear a cap or shirt with their town's name and colors. This walk symbolizes the solidarity of southern Illinois - not just a geographic region but an interconnected community. Additionally, the Mayors' Walk will speak volumes about their town's commitment to fitness and children's health.

These southern Illinois mayors plan on attending June 9 and participating in THE MAYORS' WALK:

Mary Jane Chesley of Mt. Vernon
Joel Fritzler of Carbondale
Dick Deitz of McLeansboro
